Jeunesse Anion Women’s Wellness Month Anniversary Party
Picking the perfect party dress aside, Jeunesse Anion Sanitary Napkins and Liners recently celebrated its fourth year anniversary at the EDSA Shangri-‐La with an action-‐packed wellness theme designed to move, refuel, and recover. An intimate event celebrated in a big way with friends from the press, partners, and product users, the party kicked off with an hour of morning Ashtanga yoga session with teacher Bubbles Paraiso that proved to be an energizing primer for the program.
A highly recommended type of yoga for women, Teacher Bubbles focused on yoga poses or asanas that strongly works on the legs, core, shoulder strength and hips. In summary, movements that synergistically increases blood circulation in the body, relaxes the muscles in the pelvic area, and calms the mind, which makes it an ideal workout during the harsh times of the month.
For the refuel session conducted by Philippine-‐US registered dietitian-‐nutritionist Cheshire Que, RND, RDN, the participants were greeted with a filling, satisfying but totally guilt-‐ free anti-‐PMS snack which all delivers the benefits of fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins. From the banana boost smoothie (banana and dark chocolate), crudités with double dip (carrots, bell peppers, cucumber with peanut butter vinaigrette and mango basil dips), perky parfait (granola, fruits, yogurt, honey, and walnuts), to vegenetic sandwich (sour cream, cucumber, avocado, and apple in whole wheat bread) were surprisingly tasty; no one from the guests missed the meat. A low-‐calorie, 3-‐course lunch menu prepared by the kitchen team of Edsa Shangri-‐La followed it: soup with mushroom ravioli, sous vide chicken breast with mashed potato, and yogurt pana cotta. At the end of the meal, guests were happy to trade their greasy burgers and calorie-‐laden pizza for something with functional benefits for the body.
Adding to the mix of experts and to ensure sustainability of the participants’ active lifestyle, triathlete and former national water polo player, and Nike+ Run Club Coach Lyllian Banzon, MD, MBA, zeroes in helpful tips to recover well. After breaking a sweat, she puts emphasis on activities that restores energy and aids in healing such as sleep, relaxation, and complementary medicine like acupuncture that promotes blood flow and eases muscle pain. To ensure you won’t get stuck in an exercise rut, she also suggests cross training exercises, low-‐impact activities such as cardio and resistance training. Of course, her session was capped with a final message that there’s no excuse to skip your workout entirely whether it’s the traffic, budget, menstrual period, or pre-‐menopause syndrome. Feeling healthier, accomplished, and with a renewed resolve holistic health, participants also went home with bagful of goodies from equally passionate advocates of wellness: Yoko Salt Scrub, Clara Ole Gourmet Jams, Lotus Biscoff Cookies, and Healthy Nibblers’ Khalas Dates. Guests have also experienced a yummy sampling of sugar-‐free, gluten-‐free and high-‐ fiber treats using khalas date paste as the main ingredient, like the sticky toffee date cake and date bar from Park Avenue Dessert and Take Root’s power bliss balls. Fly Ace’s Corporation’s Gerolsteiner Sparkling Water, was also served as a guiltless alternative to a highly sugary soda.
With all these tips and wellness strategies, here’s no need to dread our red days and we can surely look forward to #positivelybetter days like never before!
